Opening Luncheon

Today marked the start of my design internship with the Center for Design Innovation, CDI. We discussed plans over a much appreciated Panera Boxed lunch. Topics included such technologies as rapid prototyping and motion picture capture.

For my internship I will be taking on the responsibility of designing a series of multi-use/despecialized tables to be used in combination with seating elements and storage elements in the lounge area of CDI's office. The design challenge will be exciting to tackle and will begin with a precendent and program analysis, combining both aesthetic and functional needs of the current users and future users. A questionnaire will be formulated to better understand the needs of the space that are not obvious in looking at its existing state.

Other project needs were presented such as lighting in the lounge space and room darkening elements in the projection area. Important elements of this internship will involve organization of files and scheduling, which will be examined over the next few says and flexible throughout the summer.
